Now, we're looking for a talented FSL Linux Systems Administrator to join the Nexus team on the Amentum JETS contract at NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX.

About the Role
As a Linux Systems Administrator, you'll support the Flight Sciences Laboratory (FSL) - one of JSC's primary computing environments. FSL supports a range of high-impact programs, including the International Space Station (ISS), Orion, Space Launch System (SLS), Commercial Crew Program, Lunar Gateway, and Human Landing System (HLS). You'll work as part of a high-performing Systems Administration team responsible for maintaining and advancing the lab's high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. Your work will enable critical research and analysis that supports NASA's mission to explore beyond Earth's orbit.
Key Responsibilities
Build, configure, and maintain Linux systems in the FSL environment. Support high-end Linux workstations, HPC clusters, high-speed networking, and parallel filesystems. Proactively monitor system performance and resolve issues. Collaborate closely with FSL users and provide technical assistance. Contribute to continuous improvement and automation efforts. Document processes and system changes. Perform additional duties as required to support the mission.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent certification) in a related field. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in an IT-related role. Proficiency with Linux operating systems (Red Hat-based preferred, but others are acceptable). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and team collaboration skills. Experience supporting users with technical issues.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
Experience with or knowledge of the following is a plus:
RedHat-based systems Configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet) Lustre or other parallel filesystems InfiniBand networking Container technologies (e.g., Singularity) Monitoring and alerting systems SLURM resource manager SPACK software manager Git/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines NASA-specific systems or security protocols (e.g., POAMs, ATOs)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based with occasional lab or on-site tasks. May require sitting or standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs. Standard office equipment usage.
