Position Summary

We are seeking a janitorial professional to complete cleaning, groundskeeping and some light maintenance work at The Elms & The Balmoral in Downtown Minneapolis, MN. This position will be part of a larger team of four properties in Downtown Minneapolis and will support the team as needed. The main focus of this position will be to maintain a clean, well-maintained, enjoyable space for our residents. The Building Technician will report directly to the Senior Site Manager.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The completion of all service requests as assigned by performing a wide variety of general cleaning and light maintenance and repair functions including:

• Cleaning interior common areas
• Cleaning vacant apartments
• Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping
• Cleaning windows
• Inside/outside debris removal
• Seasonal duties: light snow removal, salting/sanding
• Plumbing (snaking toilets, other light repairs)
• Electrical (changing light bulbs, outlet covers, etc.)
• Changing furnace filters
• Installing blinds
• Changing smoke detector batteries

Skills & Qualifications

• 1+ years of cleaning experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to engage in interpersonal communication that is culturally responsive, ensuring consideration for differing needs and expectations.
• Must have a commitment to learning and participating in Aeon's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
• Must be a resourceful, problem solving, relationship-building, seeker of excellence.

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend and kneel for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to complete daily tours between properties including but not limited to inspecting grounds, common areas, hallways, stairwell and apartment homes.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist and pull.
  • Ability to withstand external weather conditions such as working outside in the rain, cold, heat or other adverse weather.
  • Ability to quickly respond to sights and sounds that may pose a threat to persons or property.
  
  
  
  

Compensation, Schedule, & Location

This position pays $18-$20 per hour depending on experience and skillset. Aeon offers an impressive benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, retirement plan, paid time off and an employee assistance program. This position offers Monday-Friday, daytime hours. Typical work schedules are 8:30am-5pm, but there is some flexibility in these hours to accommodate the needs of the property and the staff person. The Building Technician position has NO On-Call! This is an in-person position and will work mostly out of the assigned properties. Occasional work at Aeon's Central Office, training facilities and other properties will occur from time to time.
