DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform cleaning duties throughout the facility. You will deep clean resident rooms, common areas, nurse stations, kitchen areas, transportation vehicles, and visitation booths. You will also have general cleaning duties such as mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, dusting, and sweeping. This role requires maintaining a safe working environment while using solvents and chemicals as well as a genuine desire to provide a safe and healthy environment for veterans and their spouses, staff, and visitors. In addition, you will move furniture and equipment, dispose of infectious waste and recycling, shovel snow, and remove debris from sidewalks and entry areas. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and weekends.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willingness to work in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania
- Willingness to work 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM
- Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital is preferred. (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc.)
- Experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
