Overview

TRC Advanced Energy is seeking a qualified individual to support residential and commercial energy efficiency and demand management programs in New York. Responsibilities may include site inspections, energy analysis, technical writing, and project management for multiple residential and commercial energy efficiency projects and/or customers. Candidates must possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, demand management, green building, and sustainability. The desired candidate will work collaboratively with the Advanced Energy team and clients to provide field support and implement market transforming programs that encourage energy efficiency across the Northeast.

The candidate will be presented with the challenge of a diverse range of projects found in residential and commercial energy systems. There will be significant interface with clients and utility customers that will require local travel. The position requires the ability to manage multiple assigned projects and coordinate work with team members of varied backgrounds. This position requires flexibility; diversity of technical expertise; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and excellent customer care skills. The candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks. The candidate will initially support two specific programs, NYS Clean Heat and Experience Clean Heat. Other work roles will be assigned based on TRC's contracts and the candidate's specific skills and interests.

The position is located in Hudson Valley New York (West-Point to Kingston).


Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

Support the NYS Clean Heat Quality Control program

  • Coordinate and schedule site visits with residential homeowners, tenants, and commercial property owners;
  • Perform on-site pre- and post-installation quality inspections at customer facilities to verify project application accuracy and project completion;
  • Work with participating contractors to provide program training and guidance; establish relationships and actively maintain those relationships over time;
  • Assist with new project application review and completed project fulfillment activities including documentation upload, data entry, and issue resolution;
  • Work with customers and contractors to resolve discrepancies identified on site;
  • Develop inspection reports that summarize on-site findings and include photographs and action items to resolve discrepancies;
  • Report and record all required data relating to inspection activities in the applicable data collection tools;
  • Share and solicit information, convey best practices with Program Management and Team Members; and provide solutions to address implementation issues;
  • Track and correctly record program expenses and submit weekly expense reports for reimbursement;
  • Field wide-ranging questions from partners related to program policies, equipment eligibility for incentives, application process and approvals;
  • Identify and escalate program/partner issues in a timely manner to the appropriate level of management;
  • Keep informed of new products and market information of interest to our client;
  • Maintain knowledge on energy efficient products and programs;

Support the Experience Clean Heat campaign - promoting public awareness and acceptance of heat pump technologies.

  • Help recruit sites for promotional campaigns
  • Communicate and coordinate between participating entities and TRC staff to arrange for site-staff training, signage, and events
  • Compile program data from participating sites
  • Support program pipeline tracking, data collection, and program reporting to the client.
  • Identify potential issues with participating sites and communicate them to NYSERDA staff along with recommended solutions.
  • Suggest improvements to program and project management processes.

Other work as assigned which may include assisting a third program, Clean Heat Connect:

  • Act as a program liaison to heat pump distributors and manufacturers
  • Attend events at heat pump distributor's locations and promote program resources
  • Develop, and/or manage the development of, support resources for the heat pump installation contractor's market
  • Support program pipeline tracking and data collection

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree and at least one year relevant experience, or at least six years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in construction, home-performance contracting, HVAC installation, lighting, or related building science field;
  • Experience with heat pumps and other home-heating systems;
  • Knowledge of building science and energy efficiency concepts;
  • Established critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills;
  • Good communication skills; able to effectively work with multiple stakeholders and personalities;
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills;
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to work independently; scheduling and using time productively with minimal daily oversight
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with database entry
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license in the State of New York is strongly preferred; position entails travel, mostly within upstate New York.

Local Travel Required: Up to 70%

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
