Meet the Team
  • You will be part of the Service Provider Hardware Team inside Cisco's Common Hardware Group (CHG). This team develops the groundbreaking routers deployed in Service Providers and Data Centers worldwide
  • As a Hardware Engineer on the Hardware Design Validation Test (DVT) team, you will be a critical member of a dynamic EDVT (Electrical) team.
  • You will collaborate closely with multi-functional teams (Hardware Development, Diagnostics/ Software Development, Mechanical, SI, Power, Thermal, Compliance, and Manufacturing). Through these close partnerships you will deliver best-in-class products and solutions to our customers and drive continual improvements on the team.
Your Impact
  • Contribute to a project team of engineers involved in the design, development, and testing of pioneering hardware.
  • Execute complex unit and system level testing, debug, isolation, analyze sophisticated problems, and help facilitate the root cause, resolution, and closure.
  • Support Design Engineers and provide feedback on complex issues at unit or system level.
  • Support testing of product's compliance to internal specs as well as industry standards.
  • Support fault isolation, provide detailed issue mitigation, and drive issues to closure.
  • Support the root cause field issues, support customer escalation, and fix verification.
  • Support board level and system level power design and supply qualification, execute current, power, voltage stability characterization.
  • Support thermal design qualification, thermal, power, noise, airflow characterization.
  • Support the development of complex automation scripts to support xDVT test tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in electrical or computer engineering with 2 years of related experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Hardware Validation
  • Experience with Networking Topologies
  • Experience with Debugging Routers, Switches, or other networking equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Python, or similar Scripting experience is a plus
  • Some exposure with any Electrical Test and Measurement Equipment - oscilloscopes, power supplies, power analyzers and meters, AC power sources, DC electronic loads, traffic generators, switches, routers, environment chambers
  • Some exposure to Environmental Test Equipment: Thermal Chambers
  • Comfortable in a Unix environment.
  • Basic understanding of L2/L3 routing and switching.
  • Basic knowledge of the OSI Model, LAN/WAN topologies, basic router and switch configurations using IPV4/IPv6/MPLS/VRF.
  • Experience with instrument control & automation.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads.
