This position reports to

Manufacturing Unit Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will be leading an Environmental Specialist, assisting managers and employees to deliver a high-performing culture through clear line management accountability and a competent organization in the Electrification Installation business based in Jonesboro, Arkansas. You will drive improvements in health, safety and environment (HSE) performance to ensure a high-performing health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment. You will also showcase your expertise by driving behavioral change and HSE learning within the organization.
The work model for the role is: ONSITE
You will be mainly accountable for:
* Driving continuous improvement by implementing the Group HSE management system, training and improvement programs and cultivates a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE; Assists the line managers and supervisors in their respective organization in understanding their obligations, liabilities, and requirements for role fulfillment, as per local HSE law and ABB management requirements.
* Oversees internal and external audits, as well as HSE risk assessments conducted by the line management and ensures all necessary preventive measures against the identified hazards are implemented; Reports HSE performance and progress with respect to the implementation of the group-level HSE objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as required.
* Raising awareness of and winning commitment to ABB Group sustainability targets; Participates in determining the annual budget for their own area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets.
* Planning and executing HSE projects, managing resources and reporting on goals and progress; Ensures that HSE capabilities are optimized and aligned to standards, processes, guidelines, and best practices.
* Manages a team, which includes Environmental Specialist and facility nurse (external employee)

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor degree PLUS minimum 8 years HSE experience with minimum 3 years of HSE manager experience in a manufacturing environment OR Associate degree PLUS minimum 10 years related experience OR High School diploma/GED PLUS minimum 12 years' experience
  • Sound knowledge of OSHA and the state, federal and local environmental regulations
  • The ability to manage complex issues and work in cross-functional teams
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Skills in data base management systems, MS Office
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
