We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Developer to join our team. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes full ownership of their work and makes critical decisions to drive efficiency, performance, and innovation. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a strong foundation in database development, administration, and business intelligence, and who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

This opportunity is best suited for someone with 7+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and Azure cloud-based technologies, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instances, Cosmos DB, and Azure Data Factory.

Key Responsibilities


  • Database Design & Development: Architect, develop, and optimize high-performance databases using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL. Build scalable, reliable data models for hybrid environments (on-premises and Azure cloud).



  • Advanced SQL/T-SQL Development: Write and maintain complex stored procedures, triggers, functions, views, and indexes using advanced T-SQL techniques.



  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Improve database responsiveness and system performance using tools such as SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, and execution plan analysis.



  • Azure Database Management: Manage and optimize Azure SQL Databases, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and Cosmos DB, leveraging cloud-native capabilities like resource scaling, built-in security, and high availability.



  • Database Architecture & Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers and DevOps teams to build efficient and scalable cloud database architectures, ensuring alignment with business and application needs.



  • Operational Support: Oversee key operational tasks such as backups, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and automated maintenance processes.



  • Documentation & Process Improvement: Create and maintain technical documentation and participate in ongoing process improvements to ensure performance, security, and maintainability.


  • Bonus Responsibilities: Support data integration pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SSIS, and contribute to reporting/visualization efforts with SSRS and Power BI when needed.


Required Skills & Experience


  • SQL Server & Azure Expertise: 7+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server development, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Azure Managed Instances.



  • Advanced T-SQL Development: Expert-level knowledge in writing optimized queries, debugging, and performance tuning in T-SQL.



  • Azure Data Factory & DevOps: Practical experience with ADF pipelines and DevOps integration for cloud-based data solutions.



  • Small to Mid-Size Team Environment: Comfortable wearing multiple hats in lean, agile teams. Proven ability to take initiative and deliver end-to-end database solutions.


  • Strong Communication & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and product stakeholders.


Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
