The US Equine business at Zoetis focuses on delivering maximum value to customers through portfolio solutions and sustainable partnerships. Beyond medicines and services, we deploy targeted activities to support our offerings and meet customer needs. This includes a direct sales field force, technical services teams, and innovative solutions that set us apart.

Equine Specialist

The Equine Specialist manages Zoetis' Equine business with distributors, veterinarians, dealers, and horse owners in Colorado, Utah, and Southern Wyoming. This role requires a strong understanding of the Equine market dynamics, travel, and occasional overnight stays.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engage Equine and Mixed Animal Veterinarians, Dealers, and Distributors, differentiating Zoetis products from competitors.

  • Deliver educational training and sales presentations at accounts and producer seminars.

  • Build relationships and influence key trade channels: veterinarians, distributors, OTC dealers, farm personnel, and university contacts.

  • Collaborate with Equine distribution partners to drive sales in the assigned geography.

  • Manage a diverse customer base to achieve sales targets, increase market share, and meet business objectives.

  • Develop trust through reliability, credibility, and follow-up with customers.

  • Plan territory priorities through data analysis, resource utilization, and business plan execution.

  • Apply technical and commercial knowledge of the Equine industry and Zoetis' product portfolio.

  • Foster teamwork and collaboration as a key team player.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent experience required.

  • Master's in animal science or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 6 months of equine-related experience for Associate Equine Specialist.

  • Minimum 2 years of equine-related experience for Equine Specialist.

  • Minimum 8 years of equine-related experience for Senior Equine Specialist.

  • Animal health experience and knowledge of the Equine industry preferred.

  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight approximately 50% of the time, including weekends.

Technical Skill Requirements:

  • In-depth product and disease knowledge.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word applications.

Physical Position Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Willingness to travel across defined geographic areas to customer locations, including horse farms, clinics, and dealer facilities.

  • Ability to work directly with animals from husbandry to treatment administration and product education.
