The Foundation

We are the largest nonprofitfighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on a simple premise: people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives. We believe our employees should reflect the rich diversity of the global populations we aim to serve. We provide an exceptional benefits package to employees and their families which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with no premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, foundation-paid retirement contribution, regional holidays, and opportunities to engage in several employee communities. As a workplace, we're committed to creating an environment for you to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Team

In 2020, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced the creation of a new division, Gender Equality (GE), driven by our determined leadership and partnership to accelerate progress for women and girls globally. This role is a part of the Gender Equality Division's Family Planning (FP) team, which works to bring access to high-quality contraceptive information, services, and supplies to women and girls in the world's poorest countries. The FP team's work spans the spectrum from innovation, advocacy, and data, to supporting delivery and scale in localized and global contexts.

Our culture shapes our choices about what we do and how we do it. We believe that energized people, working well together, fueled by great leadership in an inclusive environment can do extraordinary things. We expect foundation employees to embody our four agreements intentionally and consistently; show respect, offer trust, be transparent, and create energy.

Your Role
You are responsible for supporting strategic planning and implementation of program initiatives. You design and manage the investment pipeline and portfolio processes, tracking, and business process, and contribute to the improved execution and monitoring of portfolios. • Contributing and participating in ongoing iterative improvement of the Family Planning strategy - refining our approach as we learn from early execution; and responding to changes in the internal and external environment.
  • Identifying, leading, and supporting qualitative and quantitative analyses to support strategic decision making.
  • Leading a collaborative process to develop materials for annual planning, strategy reviews, learning sessions, and other informal communications with foundation leadership - partnering with the Director and Family Planning Leadership team to gather content and expertise, leading synthesis and development of recommendations, and setting the bar for quality and rigor in slides, memos, and other communications.
  • Promote efficiency and productivity on the team by providing leadership and support in process development and improvement, implementation and improvement of tools, analysis, reporting, and change management.
  • Provide seamless project management, planning, coordination, and preparation for multiple deliverables and work streams.
  • Support inclusive culture through modeling behaviors and actions; escalate issues in a timely fashion to appropriate stakeholders.

Your Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Detailed portfolio and people, team, and project management skills.
  • Detailed program management knowledge, including complex strategy development, execution planning, and business process redesign projects.
  • Detailed ability to create structures and develop frameworks to increase clarity and transparency of decisions, trade-offs, and impact on financial and organizational resources.
  • Strong financial acumen plus budget development, financial analysis, and operational management skills.
