Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), assumes 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the clinical and fiscal management of assigned clinical nursing units in critical care. Provides assistance to the CNO in the accomplishment of unit specific, nursing department and organizational goals. Maintains awareness of legal, professional, regulatory, and institutional responsibilities. Acts as liaison between the medical staff and the nursing staff.

Required Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse with current California License
• Must have current BLS
• Must have ACLS within sixty (60) days of hire, promotion or transfer
• Minimum 2-year first line management experience in critical care in an acute care setting
• Demonstrated competence in management, leadership, organizational skills and clinical expertise in areas of responsibility
• Must have a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or related field
• Position involves standing and walking for long periods of time, approximately 75% of the workday
• Sitting is approximately 25%
• Must be able to transfer patients if necessary; Weight will vary from patient to patient
• Must have the dexterity, coordination, visual and auditory acuity to perform all job responsibilities
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Nursing or related field
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
