The Opportunity

  • Supports the Head of Drug Discovery on business and scientific goals and priorities for the overall Genentech/Roche enterprise, and external partnerships and communications

  • Synthesizes priorities and associated actions for the Head of Drug Discovery, as derived from overall strategy and immediate needs, and partners with the Head's office to ensure smooth execution around action items for the Drug Discovery Head.

  • Helps manage the Global Leader's engagement across multiple priorities in a manner balancing needs for Organization's long term strategic success with tactical, short term actions

  • Represents the Global Leader at key internal and external meetings

  • Serves as Drug Discovery LT Business Manager

  • Member of the Drug Discovery Leadership Team (DDLT), mapping overall strategy, long term goals, and short term priorities into an effective, agile and strategic agenda

  • Manages LT meetings and support staff around minutes, synthesis of follow ups, and timely and effective meetings

  • Drives actions and follow ups, manages and supports key Drug Discovery-wide deliverables including annual goal setting and Organization strategies in partnership with Drug Discovery senior leaders

  • Develops approaches and mechanisms for efficient and integrated work products from the Drug Discovery LT

Who You Are

  • University degree in sciences or engineering is required. 15+ years in drug discovery, life sciences, and/or healthcare industry

  • Proven experience in business operations and/or project management for complex projects at scale

  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams in large matrixed organizations

  • Highly skilled in strategic thinking, planning, and execution

  • Excellent written and verbal executive communication skills

  • Strong management experience, including recruiting, managing, and developing people managers

  • Exceptional influencing skills: consistent and proven track record of helping internal partners/stakeholders address strategic opportunities and solve problems; strong facilitation skills

  • Ability to balance strategic decision-making, innovative thinking and a pragmatic approach to overseeing implementation

  • Demonstrate the ability to be effective in dealing with ambiguities; fast and effective problem solving

  • Exhibits ability to stay calm and thoughtful in high stakes situations and conversations

  • Experience in leading organizations and people through significant change and prioritization

  • Proven track record in all elements of people leadership - attraction, hiring, onboarding, development planning, performance management, coaching, rewarding, recognizing achievements, investing in the right people for the future leadership pipeline

  • Strong ability to communicate and influence across global, regional and local cultures and business

  • Ability to retain focus on long term goals while addressing high switching frequency for short term actions

Preferred

  • Advanced degree or equivalent is desired.

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $201,300 - $373,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
