About the Job

This is a one year position.

Summary of Position
This position is designed to conduct experiments to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of intestinal regeneration and tumor formation using Drosophila as a model. In addition to performing these experiments, the job tasks include: preparing fly food for Drosophila genetic experiments and Drosophila stock maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities
70% Conduct Experiments: These experiments may contain different aspects of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry and genetics
25% Fly Food Cooking: Preparing fly food for the Drosophila lab community
5% Maintain Fly Stocks: Assist in maintaining fly stocks

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented in application materials.

Required Qualifications
BA/BS or combination or related education and work experience to equal four years. Course work in chemistry, biology, and molecular biology completed with good performance. More than one-year experience in a molecular biology research laboratory. Course work in any computational biology-related subjects. Skills in MSWord, Excel and Powerpoint. Willingness in learning bioinformatics.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in genetic research using model organisms, such as Drosophila and C. elegans. Willingness in learning purchasing and University system functions.

About the Department

The Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development comprises faculty from both the Medical School and the College of Biological Sciences. Faculty members are engaged in research in three key disciplines of the department-genetics, cell biology and developmental biology.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: Pay is $21.61 / $44,948.80

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
