THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is seeking a clinically seasoned and exceptionally organized registered nurse to join our incident management team. In this role, your clinical knowledge will be utilized in reviewing incident reports submitted by providers to evaluate participant welfare. You will work with a team of dedicated professionals to ensure that participants' needs for health, safety, and well-being are met in accordance with regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of critical incidents by health care providers. You will be involved in utilizing a designated reporting system to obtain reports and reviewing them to determine if providers have adequately addressed the immediate needs of the participant. You will also be tasked with identifying risks and documenting risk mitigation strategies. In addition, you will be assigned to handle incidents involving participant deaths, mortality reviews, and extensive record reviews. This will require a consistent and purposeful approach, focusing on both medically related conditions and non-medically related circumstances that may have contributed to the death. Your role will also involve summarizing your findings for presentation to the Office of Long-Term Living's medical director. You will complete trend and root cause analyses and make suggestions for improved outcomes. Furthermore, you will serve as a clinical consultant to the incident management team, providing your expertise and guidance in handling critical incidents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Independent travel with overnight stays
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience in the field of medical assistance, health care services, or human services; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • This position requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
