Job Summary

The People Analytics program's goal is to develop proactive, strategic, operational and predictive analytics that help UCSF Campus and Health attract, develop, engage, and retain top talent.

Reporting to the People Analytics Director, this role partners with HR leadership to support workforce strategy through data modeling, analytics, and governance. The position requires expertise in HR data systems, business processes, and metric development to create scalable, automated analytics solutions.

Key responsibilities include developing dimensional data models, managing ETL workflows, and ensuring data integrity. This role will also drive policy development by aligning analytics with strategic talent initiatives. Strong problem-solving, communication, and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Candidates must have at least five years of progressive relevant experience in workforce analytics, data integration, and modeling, with a proven ability to develop enterprise-wide analytics solutions that inform strategic decision-making.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $143,900 - $215,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

UCSF People Analytics is a small nimble department within IT Enterprise Information and Analytics that analyzes workforce trends for both UCSF Health and UCSF campus. People Analytics owns the development, coordination, and growth of a high-value analytics program that supports and advances UCSF's mission of UCSF research, education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care. The people analytics program's goal will be to develop proactive, strategic analytics that help UCSF attract, develop, engage, and retain top talent.

This role reports to the People Analytics Director and works closely operational leadership throughout UCSF to align strategic business needs with workforce data. This role also works with the HR leadership team to support both reactive and proactive data collection and analysis needs.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or 3-5 years equivalent experience / training.
  • 5+ years of relevant progressive experience
  • Advanced analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems.
  • Ability to prepare complex data models unassisted.
  • Ability to understand and model complex knowledge-intensive processes such as scholarly and research processes.
  • Proven modeling and information design skills.
  • Familiarity with highly complex logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.
  • Familiarity with highly complex data quality and governance issues and requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant rules and regulations.
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated service orientation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to represent relevant information in abstract models. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in data integration and the specification of data services.
  • Advanced knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards.
