Description
About TechnoServe: At TechnoServe, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better life. For over 50 years, we have given smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs the skills, connections, and confidence to lift themselves out of poverty. We leverage the power of markets and the private sector to create sustainable economic growth to benefit people and the planet. Our unique mix of business solutions, deep knowledge of local contexts, and data-driven insights is helping to fight poverty across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. TechnoServe staff are local-95% are from the countries in which they work. We put a high premium on collaboration and entrepreneurship. We hold ourselves and each other to the highest standards of integrity and transparency. And we focus on delivering lasting impact for our mission. Job Summary: This position is responsible for managing the design and development of TechnoServe's Enterprise Development (ED) Academy, a packaged toolkit of TechnoServe's best practices to strengthen the performance and sustainability of local Enterprise Support Organizations across middle and low income countries. The Manager will work under the supervision of the Global Entrepreneurship Senior Manager and in partnership with the global entrepreneurship practice team and associated project teams. Success in the role requires strong project management and capacity building skills, an ability to build and manage remote relationships with senior staff, strategic thinking and passion for entrepreneurship development. This position is estimated to last between 9 and 12 months. Project overview: Since 2012, TechnoServe and the Argidius Foundation have contributed to inclusive economic development globally through our business acceleration programs and the development of the Entrepreneurship Practice. With support from the Argidius Foundation, we have innovated, tested, and iterated on our training curriculum, business advisory services, and delivery models to maximize impact for participating Micro and Small Growing Businesses (MSGBs), while gaining great experience designing "toolkits" and processes to document, disseminate, and promote the adoption of key knowledge and practices. These knowledge products have been instrumental in achieving our objective and broad impact through TechnoServe's work, including an increase of our financial impact by 7.8x (2013 vs 2017), increased ROI from 3 to 12.65 (baseline 2017), funds raised for entrepreneurship programming multiplied by 3 ($10M in 2015 vs $32M avg. 2021-2023) and increased influence in the global economic development sector, including ANDE, Small Firm Diaries and the Global Future Council for Jobs at WEF. Our success in creating lasting impact in the entrepreneurship and development sectors has positioned TechnoServe as a thought leader in the industry, and donors are inviting TechnoServe to address a key gap in the enterprise development ecosystem in the countries where we operate that limits MSGBs growth: Local Enterprise Development Organizations (ESOs) that provide business development services (BDS) frequently lack the technical knowledge and capacity to support MSGBs to reach their full potential. Building on our experience, TechnoServe will package our toolkits and entrepreneurship sector expertise into one comprehensive and cohesive digital training package, the TechnoServe Enterprise Development (ED) Academy. TechnoServe's ED Academy will allow TechnoServe staff, ESOs and sector practitioners a one-stop-shop to access TechnoServe and enterprise development sector's latest knowledge and tools. It will consist of a global e-learning platform with free access to training modules in 4 languages (English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese).
