Job Description:

CostQuest Associates is a leader in broadband consulting, offering GIS-based economic modeling, data, and application development for the telecommunications industry. We work with major telecom providers and U.S. government agencies to shape the future of broadband infrastructure.


Role Overview:
As a Database Developer, you'll work closely with development, and analytics teams to ensure the integrity, performance, and scalability of our database systems. You will be responsible for developing efficient SQL queries, optimizing existing code, and supporting both SQL Server and PostgreSQP environments. If you are someone with data developing experience and who wants to learn new things and has a keen attention to detail, then this is the position for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing and maintaining database solutions using SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • Writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers and functions
  • Collaborating with various teams to support data-driven initiatives and integrate database components into applications.
  • Build and optimize workflows to support analytics, reporting and operational processes
  • Design and manage database schemas, tables, indexes and other data objects in SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with industry best practices.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource utilization
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for data-related issues
  • Document data workflows, database structures and ETL processes
  • Prepare, maintain and develop documentation methods and best practices for data processes
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions for internal and external clients.


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Database Developer or SQL Developer
  • Proficiency in SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including database design, query optimization and performance tuning
  • Strong knowledge of database design, normalization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Java, VB.NET or PowerShell
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and data integration techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality data solutions
  • Solid understanding of data security and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team


Other Requirements:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, etc) and their data services is a plus
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies


Work Environment & Requirements:

  • Hybrid work model based in Cincinnati, OH.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass a Public Trust background check.
  • Occasional travel to Seattle or other locations may be required.
  • Must have resided in the U.S. for the past 3 years.
