The Mail Operations Associate- General Mail Sort/ Floater is responsible for a variety of duties related to identifying, sorting and distributing mail in a fast-paced environment with daily deadlines. Also responsible for backing up other areas within the department so flexibility is important and being able to switch focus quickly.

Job duties include the following:



  • Record incoming mail counts daily. Carefully and quickly sort incoming mail for the appropriate buildings, departments and employees. Know when it is necessary to open mail and review the contents and when to make that determination based on the information on the envelope.
  • Process loss draft checks with the utmost urgency, create transmission cover sheets, identify and verify all loan information. Must meet timeliness objectives throughout the day.
  • Sort, process and identify incoming mail and complete the necessary steps based on the requirements for each area. Must count and report mail accurately and meet timeliness and quality objectives. This includes processing default returned mail.
  • Serve as the primary backup for nearby locations and all mail operations functions to cover for vacations and other vacancies. Must remain current on all policies and procedures and responsible for all job duties of those positions when covering them.
  • Serve as a secondary backup for Courier duties as needed by gathering documents and items from various company locations and transporting them via company vehicle to the appropriate destination.
  • Assist and support other associates as time allows. Complete miscellaneous related duties and projects as assigned.



An essential duty of this position is driving a vehicle. Employees working in this position must be in compliance with MidFirst Bank's Vehicle Use Policy ("Policy").

Position Requirements

Candidates must possess a minimum of 1 year of office related experience to be considered, preferably in mail operations or roles with related responsibilities. Specific shipping or postal service knowledge is a plus.

Qualified candidates must be reliable and have the ability to increase pace to meet deadlines, while maintaining quality. Teamwork and basic PC and communication skills are needed, as well as good sorting and organizational skills. The ability to multi-task and change priorities quickly as well keeping up with a wide range of job duties is key. Candidates must also be able to operate vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, and have an acceptable driving record.

Working Conditions



  • Lifting and carrying full mail trays and pushing and pulling mail carts
  • Must be able to work standing much of the time in addition to bending and stooping
  • Some lifting is necessary in order to ship and deliver boxes and paper (paper boxes weigh 50-75 pounds)
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements when covering courier duties
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision when covering at nearby locations
