Acara Solutions seeks highly qualified candidates to work hybrid with our client in Indianapolis, IN. Interested? Here's what you'd do:
- The Controls Systems Engineer is part of the Software Systems Capability function.
- The Controls Systems Engineer shall specify, design, and validate complex subsystems, including high-level requirements for the software or hardware system components.
- This will include creating mathematical models and simulations of control and actuation systems.
- The Controls Systems Engineer is responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of the controls subsystem and the artefacts associated with the design, verification, and validation of the system.
- This shall be achieved through decomposition of designs, development of tests, and analysis to ensure that the system implementation satisfies the validated requirements.
- Reviews and agrees on high-level control and instrumentation system requirements, including testability.
- Analyse and translate high-level requirements into a validated control and instrumentation system design.
- Captures applicable design constraints (must meet conditions) and quality attributes (may be traded) that apply to the control and instrumentation system.
- Designs and implements the control and instrumentation system to meet high requirements and design constraints/standards.
- Allocate control and instrumentation system requirements to test vehicles defined in the verification plan.
- Analyses the control and instrumentation system for functional behavior, which may include modelling and simulation, to demonstrate that the design meets the high-level requirements.
- Develops and reviews control system tests that will provide evidence to demonstrate that the control system requirements have been satisfied.
- Analyse verification test results against control and instrumentation system requirements.
- Provides targeted testing of control and instrumentation system functionality to support problem investigation, problem closure, and customer issues.
- Liaises with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of system components to facilitate effective component design.
- May be necessary to participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for the department in conjunction with the department managers.

- Designs sub-systems to meet the functional requirements and design constraints by analyzing and translating customer requirements into a set of validated functional requirements for the system or sub-systems.
- Creates and validates complex high-integrity mathematical models of control and actuation systems.
- Analyses requirements for testability.
- May be necessary to perform detailed performance analyses of existing and future control systems.
- Ensures robust and optimal (weight, cost) designs and problem solutions by effectively applying appropriate engineering tools and applicable processes.
- Working with Control System Specialists' guidance defines the system's physical and functional architecture.
- Under the guidance of Control System Specialists, undertake the detailed specification, definition, and integration of the system, ensuring that it will accommodate any identified hazards.
