Job Overview

As a physical therapy resident, this person will provide patient care as assigned by supervising clinical faculty. The resident is committed to ensuring an excellent patient experience and is dedicated to quality care and patient safety. All patient charts and documentation will be completed based on department standards. The resident will complete all requirements for an ABPTRFE accredited residency program. Providing physical therapy services including; evaluation, treatment and follow up and documentation using general and program competencies for patients referred to the physical therapy department. Provide supervision for PT aides/assistants with specific tasks and/or patients. Provide continuous consultation and education to families.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION - Graduated from an accredited School of Physical Therapy
  • EXPERIENCE - at least one clinical rotation / or work experience in outpatient orthopedic/ sports setting
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR, EMR/ ERA or current EMT or ATC
  • LICENSURE - Physical Therapist - State of Colorado

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Completes all requirements of ABPTRFE (American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education) accredited residency program.
  • Completes all requirements included in the Core competencies of a Physical Therapy Resident (As written by the ABPTRFE)
  • Works with primary mentors directly on a weekly basis, in the context of direct patient care and specialty training regarding all care areas of the specialty related DRP (Description of Residency Practice) and DSP (Description of Specialty Practice).
  • Coordinates, develops, and conducts major residency project / poster presentation, and additional projects as assigned by residency coordinator, mentors, residency faculty and program coordinator.
  • Collaboration- Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. Provides consultation and education to other professionals and families as necessary.
  • Documentation- Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames.
  • Evaluation/Re-evaluations: Independently evaluates children, adolescents, teenagers, adults and seniors across the continuum, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
  • Financial Responsibility: Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
  • Leadership and/or Professionalism- Demonstrates professional behaviors; adheres to hospital and departmental policies and promotes personal and departmental development through participation in development activities to improve the patient experience and quality goals of the department and hospital. Provides clinical supervision as needed/when appropriate for physical therapy clinical interns.
  • Treatment- Treat children, adolescents, teenagers, adults and seniors across the continuum, with a variety of diagnoses, in specialized programs on (inpatient) / outpatient units, on field (for sports residents) and in the community. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.

  • Guidelines: Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.
  • Complexity: Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices.
  • Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non-routine issues to supervising clinical faculty, residency coordinator or supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or are without precedent are taken up with the supervising clinical faculty, residency coordinator or supervisor.
  • Communications: Contacts with the public or employees where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
  • Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review by the faculty, residency coordinator and supervisor.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $58,900.08 to $88,350.12
Hourly Salary Range: $28.32 to $42.48
