A Brief Overview About the Laboratory Dr. Mosse is a physician-scientist who has focused for two+ decades on the childhood cancer neuroblastoma with the dual goals of improving patient outcomes and using the disease as a model to understand cancer in general. The Mosse laboratory (https://www.research.chop.edu/people/yael-p-mosse) is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team focused on translating basic laboratory discoveries into new effective therapies for children with solid tumors. Her program is largely focused on genetic susceptibility, somatic mutations and clonal evolution, mechanisms of therapy resistance, immuno-oncology, drug development, and clinical trials. The Mosse Lab now seeks an experienced Scientist to join the team and develop new strategies for childhood cancer drug development. There are numerous opportunities including our new Cancer Grand Challenges Program focused on harnessing targeted protein degradation approaches to directly target the major oncogenic drivers (including intrinsically disordered proteins) essential for the childhood solid tumors (https://koodac.com/), and immunotherapeutic approaches for pediatric cancer patient populations with high unmet needs. A new Scientist joining the team will be responsible for advancing knowledge about cancer through various research activities, including designing experiments, conducting studies, analyzing data, and communicating findings. This individual should be passionate about cancer research, eager to test new hypotheses in cancer biology, excited about access to patient samples as gifts for the research and motivated to participate in grant writing to secure funding for research projects and to draft manuscripts. We have a highly collaborative environment and are seeking someone who will be a good fit for our research program and who will enjoy mentoring and supervising junior researchers and lab technicians. We are looking for someone who has the natural ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment, with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Prior experience in immunological, biochemical and molecular biology techniques preferred. Techniques include, but are not limited to: PCR, flow cytometry, cell culture, cloning, vector production, immunological assays, protein engineering, mass spectrometry, single-cell sequencing, genome editing using CRISPR-CAS9, ChIP sequencing, RNAseq, analysis of next generation sequencing data and bioinformatics. The Scientist will lead the development of therapies intended for clinical translation. This role is an independent researcher that plans, coordinates and executes research projects. Works with the principal, investigator. Participates in and assists in the planning and coordination of research projects.
