Are you interested in leading the software integration of a hypersonic weapon system?

Would you like to use your skills and experience in project management, hypersonics and software engineering to support the nation's first fielded hypersonics capability?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!

We are seeking a Hypersonic Weapon System Software Integration Lead to help APL understand and coordinate the integration of contractor software across the weapons system. APL, as technical direction agent, supports the government in down-selecting, scheduling and integrating software across the kill-chain including: mission planning, weapon control, post- and pre-flight analysis tools, and flight software.

As a Hypersonic Weapon System Software Integration Lead, your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Providing the government with systems-level technical expertise on software system development, including participating in government and contractor review boards
  • Managing and supporting the government and industry team to ensure timely delivery of necessary capabilities on a fast-moving program
  • Reviewing and tracking software interfaces and requirements across organizations and stakeholders, helping define common standards for all parties
  • Identifying promising technologies for insertion into the software baseline, while understanding the costs and risks of these changes
  • Communicating with the government and industry team on a regular, independent basis to help keep the program on-track

Qualifications

You meet the minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; Computer Science; applied mathematics; or related technical fields
  • Understand the challenges of hypersonic flight and strategic weapon systems
  • Have prior experience with weapon system software integration and collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Are willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Have experience working on fast-moving DoD programs and have demonstrated the ability to lead from anywhere
  • Have experience developing safety-critical software related to weapon control and/or flight software
  • Have experience defining a comprehensive software architecture for multiple stakeholders
  • Have 3+ years of experience in software project management with outstanding organization skills
  • Hold an active Top Secretsecurity clearanceor higher

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
