Overview

We are seeking a Paramedic at St. Mary's Medical Center!

Shift's Available: Variable (Days & Nights) 12-hour Shifts

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Recognizes signs of abuse and reports appropriately to the hospital social worker and/or Child Protective Services. Familiar with the EMTALA Regulations.
  • A paramedic shall be responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts, mobilization, and shall participate as needed in patient handling.
  • Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling, trained in safe lifting techniques, includes but not limited to:
    • Appropriate use of lifting devices and equipment
    • Five areas of body exposure: vertical, lateral, bariatric repositioning and ambulation
    • Use of lifting devices to handle patients safely.
  • Uses professional judgment and clinical assessment in safe patient handling that are consistent with Safe Patient Handling policies.
  • Monitors hemodynamic/cardiac status of patient and correctly interprets the results.
  • Initiates discharge and family education planning with proper documentation.
  • Adjusts frequency of assessment as appropriate for patient's condition and reassess treatment action for effectiveness in achieving desired outcome.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Current and valid paramedic license issued by the State of Missouri.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • PALS and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Minimum of one year as a paramedic in an EMS or in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

  • Non-OB facilities: NRP 30 days upon hire and maintain current
