DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will support mechanics by engaging in a range of analytical tasks, preventative maintenance, and repair activities for a diverse fleet that includes construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. Your responsibilities will encompass the repair and maintenance of various systems, such as hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, and exhaust systems, as well as both manual and automatic transmissions. Under close supervision, you will utilize equipment including hand grinders, drills, diagnostic tools, acetylene torches, arc welders, and air-operated tools to carry out these tasks effectively. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- If you are selected for this position, you will work directly with your workplace supervisor to determine a work schedule that coordinates with your school schedule.
- Internship will run July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years of age.
- You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved cooperative vocational program that has prepared the student for the duties and description of work described in this posting.
- Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
- Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
- By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
