DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an intern, you will play a vital role in supporting full-time Diesel and Construction Mechanics by engaging in various daily tasks related to diesel mechanic maintenance, repairs, and engine rebuilding. We seek motivated students who are eager to take initiative, demonstrate a strong desire to learn, and effectively follow established procedures and instructions that facilitate their development and successful execution of assigned duties. It is essential for interns to actively seek to absorb and retain a wealth of information and knowledge throughout their experience. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will be expected to adhere to time and attendance policies, follow proper call-off procedures, comply with safety regulations, and respect the work rules set forth by PennDOT. This comprehensive approach will not only enhance your learning experience but also contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • If you are selected for this position, you will work directly with your workplace supervisor to determine a work schedule that coordinates with your school schedule.
  • Internship will run July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old at time of hire.
  • Must be in a junior- or senior-year status during the 2025-26 school year.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved cooperative vocational training program that has prepared the student for the duties and the description of work described in this posting.
  • Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
  • Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
  • By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
