Summary of the Job:

As a Senior Analyst, Operational Controls Testing is responsible for leading and developing a critical second line of defense operational controls testing program to ensure departmental processes and corporate initiatives adhere to operational standards, policies, and regulatory requirements as well as perform testing activities. This includes policy/program development, enhancement and training, reporting to oversight committees and providing guidance to team members, validating the execution of complex testing to ensure business line operational controls are designed appropriately and operating as intended. Additionally, this role will drive the evolution of operational testing by identifying opportunities to enhance and automate testing and monitoring activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with management to develop an operational control testing program using industry standards and best practices to ensure operational controls are designed appropriately and operating as intended.
  • Develop comprehensive testing methodologies to assess compliance with operational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct independent testing of operational controls to identify gaps and ensure effectiveness.
  • Prepare detailed and objective documentation supporting test conclusions and findings.
  • Review operational issues to provide effective challenge and ensure quality of supporting documentation.
  • Perform complex quantitative and qualitative analysis of operational data using modern testing techniques.
  • Identify operational control weaknesses and develop practical recommendations for remediation.
  • Partner with data and technology teams to implement automated, full-population, and continuous testing of operational controls.
  • Manage various ad-hoc requests related to operational testing from internal Auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on complex operational testing matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners and other control functions to facilitate collaboration across all lines of defense.
  • Prepare reporting to Board oversight committees regarding testing metrics and results; and
  • Facilitate the execution of action plans related to testing findings.
Ideal Candidate Qualities
  • Meticulous:Takes time to understand the impact of operational initiatives while also diving into details to ensure expectations are met.
  • Curious:Questions processes, explores alternatives, challenges conventional thinking, and partners with stakeholders to improve operational standards.
  • Analytical:Experienced in root cause analysis with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Translator:Able to interpret operational requirements and communicate them effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Creative:Comfortable with undefined problems and new challenges, with a passion for process improvement.

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Basic Qualifications
  • At least 5 years in operational risk management, process controls, or similar analytical discipline within banking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex operational information into comprehensible test results and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience building consensus and addressing complex operational issues at all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience executing controls testing within functions such as Operational Risk, Compliance, or Audit in a mid-size or large financial institution.
  • Deep understanding of operational risk frameworks and control environments.

Compensation:

Compensation range (base pay): $80,061.00-$132,099.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
