Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellow to join our 12-month Neurosurgery APP Fellowship. This structured postgraduate program is designed to enhance the clinical skills of new NP and PA graduates or experienced APPs transitioning into neurosurgery. Fellows will gain experience in the full spectrum of neurosurgical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Neurosurgery APP Fellowship Responsibilities:
- Develop proficiency in diagnosing and managing neurosurgical conditions
- Participate in pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care
- Rotate through various neurosurgical subspecialties, including neurocritical care and neuroradiology
- Attend academic conferences, didactic sessions, journal clubs, and quality improvement meetings
- Perform procedures such as lumbar drain and intracranial pressure monitor placement
- Engage in multidisciplinary patient care and education
- Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, residents, APPs, and the broader care team
- Gain exposure to surgical first-assisting as available
Additional Requirements:
- Work schedule: Full-time fellowship, 12-month duration, beginning October 1 annually
- Education:
- PA: Graduate of an accredited program, PANCE-eligible at time of interview and certified by start
- NP: Graduate of an accredited NP program (adult, acute care, family, or gerontology), board-eligible at time of interview and certified by start
- Licensure & Certification: Virginia license, DEA, BLS
- Preferred Experience: Prior clinical rotation or experience in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, or neurology
