* Work on floor to assist press operator in squaring, sizing and cutting material to length.
* Keep forging dies clean of oxide or any other foreign material.
* Keep press rags and scrap identified and moved to the proper location.
* Set up and stamp or otherwise identify material being pressed or straightened.
* Keep finished materials moved to proper area.
* Maintain necessary logs, charts and other paperwork in conjunction with the pressing operation.
* Direct and check the work of the charger operator to insure that proper material is being pressed or loaded.
* Maintain proper identification of material being forged.
* Operate charger in the absence of the operator.
* Operate press and associated equipment in the absence of the press operator.
* Assist in the performance of setup and maintenance duties as necessary.
* Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
* Detect and report any improper condition, defective material or unusual condition to proper supervision. NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:
* Perform other duties as required or directed. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
* General high school or GED
* Required to pass IME screening
* Use shop mathematics and complex specifications chart and tables.
* Use precise gauges and measuring instruments requiring interpretation.
* General knowledge of working qualities of alloys and basic metallurgy equivalent of 2 to 3 years trades training.
* Continuous learning/training is expected until skilled at all forging practices.
* Must be qualified to perform duties of all other operating personnel.
