SHIFT: Day (United States of America)Seeking Breakthrough Makers CHOP is committed to building an inclusive culture where employees feel a sense of belonging, connection, and community within their workplace. We are a team dedicated to fostering an environment that allows for all to be their authentic selves. We are focused on attracting, cultivating, and retaining talent who can help us deliver on our mission to be a world leader in the advancement of healthcare for children. We strongly encourage candidates of all races, colors, ethnicities, religions, perspectives, sexes, backgrounds, and lived experiences to apply. A Brief Overview About the Laboratory Dr. Lindsey George's laboratory studies the molecular basis of coagulation and how disturbances in their function lead to disorders of bleeding and thrombosis. We are interested in translating basic molecular and biochemical insights to improve therapeutics for disorders of hemostasis, namely hemophilia. Specifically, we are interested in developing novel gene addition or gene editing approaches for hemophilia and understanding the mechanism of inhibitor formation in hemophilia. A variety of enzymatic, biochemical, and molecular biology techniques are used in the laboratory in order to carry out our specific goals. For example, the following techniques are routinely performed in the laboratory: modern molecular methods (site-directed mutagenesis, cloning, etc.), tissue culture, protein purification, HPLC, FPLC, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, enzymatic kinetic assays, fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence anisotropy measurements, mouse modeling of hemostasis, designing AAV vectors etc. We aim to expand our gene editing work. Experience with gene editing technology, iPSC, and advanced molecular biology techniques is preferred. What you will do
