Medical Assistant Supervisor/ CNA /Med Tech

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily responsibilities of the Medical Assistants and the Medication Room. The Medical Assistant Supervisor is also responsible for leading, planning, and organizing the daily function of the Medical Assistant team and ensuring adherence to HIPAA and CCA policy and protocol. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Provide direct training and direct supervision of Medical Assistants and Medication room tech(s).
  • Conduct performance evaluations for new staff at six months and annually thereafter.
  • Address performance issues and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Ensure staff adherence to HIPAA regulations and CCA practice and protocol.
  • Participate in the recruitment and training process for new medical assistants and medication techs.
  • Provide back-up coverage for call-outs, or an alternate plan for ensuring tasks and responsibilities are completed.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff to ensure effective client care.
  • Review bi-weekly time sheets for accuracy and submit to payroll.
  • Serve as contact and liaison for Current Care, Dominion Diagnostics, East Side Lab, and Horizon Pharmacy.
  • Submit supply requisitions for nursing supplies and PPE supplies and maintain a neat, organized, and well-stocked supply room.
  • Attend supervision, prepared with questions, feedback, problem-solving suggestions, etc.
  • Provide other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:


  • Certification to practice as a Certified Nurse's Assistant and Medication Aide or LPN in Rhode Island
  • 2 Years of experience as a Certified Medication Aide OR as an LPN
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Must be able to read, speak, and write in English, to read and pronounce the names of medications.
  • Must be able to visually confirm labelling and content of medication packaging.
  • Must be able to utilize fine and gross motor skills to manipulate tools and supplies required to process medications according to established practices.
  • Must understand medical terminology especially related to medication formulation, dosing, and administration.
  • Must follow directions and all applicable federal, state, local and agency rules and regulations governing the safe handling of medications and prescriptions.
  • Must adhere to HIPAA guidelines regarding the privacy of client information.
  • Must recognize and respond appropriately to environmental, interpersonal and liability risk situations.
  • Must seek supervision in situations beyond the individual's scope of practice.
  • Must show a commitment to learning about and meeting the complex needs of patients.
  • Interpersonal professionalism is essential.
