Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the campus mission of education and research by ensuring reliable, efficient, and safe controls for campus mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day activities of 13 building automation system (BAS) technicians and 2 students. Manage the installation of all new heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) controls on campus. Support the maintenance needs of the campus control system, variable frequency drives, occupancy sensors, and card access system.
  • Provide supervision of staff, including assigning work, approving time off, tracking labor hours, monitoring staff performance and formal performance appraisals
  • Facilitate and document training for technician staff as they progress through the advancement program
  • Schedule and plan work to keep up with project schedules and to minimize the impact to campus
  • Promote and enforce safety and safety programs. Correct safety deficiencies and respond to safety issues and concerns
  • Coordinate necessary standby and or on-call of staff to support the 24/7 coverage of service calls. Carry a mobile phone and be available for afterhours assistance for on-call techs
  • Provide cost estimates for BAS work on campus projects
  • Oversee the ordering of project parts, spare parts, and tools. Maintain adequate stock to support the BAS maintenance operation
  • Review plans and specifications to ensure controllability and adherence to campus standards. Attend design review and construction coordination meetings as needed.
  • Assist with project administration by making sure projects are setup in the billing software, labor and material is billed, and closing out projects at completion
  • Oversee the creation of commissioning books at the end of a project
  • Help techs troubleshoot more complex problems
  • Coordinate work with Facility Operations to get equipment repaired
  • This position reports to the Manager of Building Automation & TAB
Shift

7:00AM-3:30PM, Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years' experience working with HVAC control systems
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Missouri driver's license or valid out-of-state driver's license with the understanding a Missouri driver's license must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $74,000 to $84,000 annually

Grade: GGS-010
