Location: Ridgeland, South Carolina Industry: Manufacturing Employment Type: Full-Time Company: STS Technical Services STS Technical Services is hiring a skilled and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team in Ridgeland, South Carolina. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes that enhance efficiency, improve product quality, and reduce costs. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, integrate new technologies, and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain detailed work instructions to support production processes
- Evaluate and improve existing manufacturing methods, including tooling and fixtures
- Design prototype tooling and fixtures based on engineering requirements
- Conduct cost analyses with finance teams and justify ROI for new investments
- Manage inventory control for tools and related equipment
- Stay up-to-date with emerging manufacturing technologies and trends
- Oversee quality control processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Use Epicor and Tulip software to track and validate parts during assembly and installation
- Collaborate with engineering teams using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Participate in design for manufacturability (DFM) assessments
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional projects with minimal supervision
- Perform technical studies and prepare recommendations for manufacturing methods
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to production workflows
- Audit floor operations to ensure compliance with defined procedures
- Support all safety, sustainability, and ergonomic initiatives
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Business Continuity Plan
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor preferred)
- Familiarity with purchasing, equipment installation, and repair
- Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks required
- Prior use of ERP systems in a production environment
Working Conditions:
- May involve extended periods working outside of climate-controlled environments
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required on production floors
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk, sit, stand, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs.
