This position may be eligible for a telework schedule once onboarding into position is complete and with supervisor approval.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the Financial Aid Counselor position is to manage daily, weekly, and monthly reports associated with the Office of Financial Aid involving but not limited to awarding, residency, unusual enrollment, and student semester enrollment. This role serves as a critical point of contact for providing accurate and timely information about financial aid policies and procedures to current and prospective students, their families, and other campus visitors through individual meetings and outreach. In addition to these duties, this position will also have specific programmatic responsibilities, which may include managing specialized aid programs, supporting compliance initiatives, or assisting with outreach events.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management experience in the student services or related field; or equivalent.

Essential Job Duties

This role serves as a critical point of contact for providing accurate and timely information about financial aid policies and procedures to current and prospective students, their families, and other campus visitors through individual meetings and outreach. Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a higher education/student services setting, preferred Financial Aid.
  • Experience facilitating presentations and events for internal and external audiences, demonstrating strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Financial Aid Regulations and policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to critically think and independently problem solve, while exercising professional judgement to escalate to management when necessary.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated by application materials, strong attention to details.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and analytical skills.
