Position description

Choksi Lab - Junior Specialist

The Choksi Lab in the Department of Cell & Tissue Biology at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Specialist to join our new lab at the UCSF Stem Cell Building (Parnassus campus). Our lab studies airway stem cell differentiation, with the goal of uncovering how cell fate decisions are regulated and how these insights can be applied to treat respiratory diseases. This position will involve approximately 50% lab management duties (e.g., ordering, inventory, equipment maintenance) and 50% research, including designing and executing experiments alongside other members of the lab. This position will focus on cell culture, single-cell genomics approaches, and related molecular biology techniques. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates considering graduate school, as you will gain rigorous research experience, develop technical expertise, and participate in a highly collaborative and intellectually exciting environment.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a biological science or related field or at least four years of research experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working style.
  • Must be willing to commit to at least 2 years in the position.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous research experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Cell culture experience.
  • Mouse handling experience.


See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000-$58,600.
