Night Dryer Operator

General Purpose:
The Dryer Operator is responsible for the operation of all dryer equipment and all process controls associated with these processes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Effectively operate the dryer as defined in training and by management
  • Maintain top of dryer (pick up clamps, gaskets, pipes, etc.)
  • Maintain tower area and ground floor (clean, sanitary, put away when not in use)
  • Manage shut downs between products and before wash ups
  • Record all powder on daily production sheets
  • Ensure rerun is recorded
  • Assure proper coding
  • Verify labels for accuracy
  • Collect product samples
  • Fire control
  • Manage waste
  • Monitor equipment for abuse, break-down, etc.
  • Ensure product meets customer specifications
  • Communicate shift recap to oncoming operator
  • Prevent cheese from falling on floor
  • Maintain operating records
  • SAP/data entry
  • Understands and maintains the highest level of GMP and sanitation standards possible
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
  • Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
  • Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
  • Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
  • Perform other work as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Be able to work a full 12-hour shift
  • Physically handle the duties assigned, including cleaning
  • Learn the theory of operating and cleaning procedures and practices involved in the operation and equipment of the position, including any new operations and equipment assigned by management
  • Work proficiently, neatly and accurately at the speeds required
  • Perform the job duties resulting in a high-quality product
  • Perform necessary routine cleaning and preventive maintenance
  • Perform work independently as required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
