Job Description:
- The Project Manager (Temporary) will support the coordination, innovation, and strategic development of WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and WFNJ (Work First New Jersey)-funded workforce programs. This position directly contributes to helping individuals gain employment, build job skills, and achieve economic independence, while also supporting systems-level improvements and modernization efforts.
- This is a mission-driven role for a motivated, service-minded professional who wants to make a tangible impact in the community by helping to build stronger, more effective workforce services. The Project Manager will work closely with both the Director of Operations -Employment and Training Services and the Executive Director of the Workforce Development Board (WDB) on a wide range of operational, strategic, and policy initiatives.
Role & Responsibilities:
Program Support &Coordination:
- Assist in the day-to-day implementation of WIOA and WFNJ-funded programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery to job seekers.
- Coordinate with One-Stop Career Centers and community partners to support job fairs, resume workshops, outreach events, and work readiness programming.
- Help improve internal workflows and communication among partners, contractors, and service providers.
Data & Systems Management:
- Manage and ensure accurate data entry into AOSOS, and support troubleshooting and staff training.
- Assist the MIS team and program leadership during the state's transition to a new workforce system as part of workforce modernization efforts.
- Support the development of a centralized internal case management system that simplifies participant tracking across programs.
Special Projects & Innovation Initiatives:
- Support AI and digital tool integration for career services such as resume review, career assessments, and job matching.
- Document and share client success stories to showcase impact through website features and WDB reports.
- Participate in process improvement efforts related to registration, digital forms, and internal documentation.
Marketing, Outreach &Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with the Outreach Coordinator to develop promotional materials, social media content, and marketing strategies.
- Represent the ETS department at external meetings and events such as WDB committee meetings, Human Services Advisory Councils (HSAC), and GSETA forums.
Support to the Workforce Development Board (WDB):
- Assist the WDB Executive Director with projects related to:
- Labor market research
- Policy development and recommendations
- Evaluation of training vendors and in-demand occupations
- Review and implementation of board initiatives and compliance tasks
- Help develop materials and presentations for WDB meetings and public reports.
- Provide project coordination for board-led special initiatives and regional workforce strategies.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Human Services, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in workforce development, nonprofit administration, policy work, or public sector project management.
- Strong skills in organization, communication, and cross-team collaboration.
- Familiarity with WIOA/WFNJ programs, labor market information, AOSOS, or workforce data systems is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
