We have an opening for a Senior Cybersecurity Data Engineer in our Information Security Department.
The Senior Cybersecurity Data Engineer will serve as subject matter expert for protecting firm data both on-prem and in the cloud. This position collaborates with business units, project management, and engineering teams to deliver secure data classification and protection solutions. Qualified candidates will have a background in data security in general and Varonis in particular.
In this capacity, the Senior Cybersecurity Data Engineer will:
- Provide expertise in Data Security architecture and design, both in an existing on-prem environment and SaaS solutions;
- Create data policies and be the subject matter expert for Varonis and other technologies with an emphasis on Data Security, Data Classification, and Data Integrations;
- Establish and document operational procedures and runbooks for data security domains to be shared with frontline operational staff;
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for data security related incidents, including both fixing technical issues as well supporting Incident Response efforts related to data compromise;
- Collaborate with various Information Security and Information Technology teams to ensure the overall security of the firm's technology footprint both on-prem and in the public cloud;
- Partner with engineering on development, implementation, and monitoring of data security controls for the protection of applications, services and highly sensitive data, including assisting with DLP initiatives;
- Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks;
- Assess gaps in existing policy and propose amendments to existing policy or new policy to address these gaps;
- Building threat models for enterprise applications to identify attack vectors and threats;
- Assisting with internal investigations, protecting data for legal holds and providing reports on user activity;
- Collaborate with engineers, consultants and leadership to address security risks and provide mitigation recommendations for Data Security; and
- Provides guidance and support to self-testing, security control assessment, preparation of remediation plans, and development of continuous monitoring plans.
Proficiencies:
- Strong communication skills with ability to articulate and translate security and risk management terminology in business terms;
- Excellent Judgement;
- Detailed technical knowledge of Varonis and one or more of the following: Microsoft Purview, large scale DMS, Cloud Storage, Data Classification tools; and
- Strong proven experience providing secure design guidance for complex environment.
Qualifications:
- Have minimum of 12 years' Information Security experience (preferred);
- At least 5 years Varonis experience (required); and
- BS degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or related field (preferred).

The salary wage range that we expect to pay for this position is a minimum of $133,400 and a maximum of $190,000 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors.
