The basics of this position:

The Coordinator, Academic Success (Athletics) advises student-athletes and leads the daily operations of the advising/academic support center, working with the Athletic Director to develop and implement initiatives that empower student-athletes to achieve academic success independently. (Frequent travel within the district is required.)

**The start date for this position will be effective after July 1st.**

What you'll do:



  • Provide communication to assigned student athletes through one-on-one appointments, daily electronic communications, phone calls, and academic advising sessions.
  • Monitor academic progress of assigned student-athletes based on NJCAA Academic regulations and create plans in advance to ensure eligibility and timely graduation.
  • Work with the Athletic Director to develop and implement initiatives in support of student success, eligibility, and retention as needed.
  • Send out grade updates to the head coaches of respective teams with high and medium risk students.
  • Participate in orientation and other advising and student success events as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to athletic staff on individual and group sensitive and complex situations pertaining to student athletes' academics and eligibility.
  • Serve as the liaison for other key offices including department deans and chairs, enrollment management, faculty, advising centers and student success centers, and other areas on campus.
  • Maintain student files, including Degree Audits, to accurately reflect advising session interactions and progress on or toward degree completion.
  • Create timelines, procedures, and materials for advising students. Assess and modify processes and materials to maintain a quality experience for student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director to develop and implement an Athletic Orientation for all student-athletes.
  • Analyze and record data, participate in student success initiatives, and take on other projects in support of student-athlete advising and success as assigned.
  • Effectively utilize Navigate, Banner, communication, and advising tools.
  • Performs other jobs related duties as assigned.


Education, experience, and other requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of professional experience in working with student -athletes, education plans, and NJCAA academic rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in a job-related field is preferred.
