Position Title: Clinical Research Technician

Department: Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics Research Unit

Duration: 12+ Months (Potential Extension)

Location: Grayslake, IL

Schedule: Variable (Open 24/7); 8-hour shifts as scheduled



  • No guarantee of weekly hours; may range from 0 to 4-5 shifts per week
  • Training will occur during day shift
  • Post-training availability required for AM/PM shifts and weekends
  • Schedule released biweekly


Minimum Education Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent


Preferred Education

  • Clinical Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, military medic, or higher education in a relevant field
  • Recent clinical experience strongly preferred


Minimum Experience Required

  • 1-2 years of work experience in:

    • A clinical or research environment, or in a patient care setting
    • A role with phlebotomy responsibilities




Major Job Responsibilities

  • Review clinical study protocols and ensure adherence to study-specific activities
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with study subjects and unit personnel
  • Collect and accurately document source data
  • Perform clinical study-related tasks, including:

    • Phlebotomy
    • Sample processing
    • Electrocardiogram (ECG) collection
    • Recording vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse)
    • Measuring height and weight


  • Maintain safety, comfort, and confidentiality of study participants at all times
  • Follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FDA regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines

  1. Phlebotomy - Proven competency in drawing blood and handling biological specimens
  2. Laboratory Skills - Experience with sample processing and lab procedures
  3. ECG Collection - Ability to operate ECG equipment and collect accurate readings
  4. Vital Signs Monitoring - Proficiency in measuring and documenting patient vitals
  5. Clinical or Hospital Experience - Background in patient care within clinical or hospital settings
