Pay rate : $18.20 + $4.93 (Health and Wellness) per hour

Job Summary :

The General Maintenance Worker performs inspections, general maintenance, and repairs in dormitory buildings. This role requires practical skills and knowledge (but not journeyman-level proficiency) in trades such as painting, entry-level carpentry, basic plumbing, and minor electrical troubleshooting. Duties also include documenting inspection findings and responding to minor facility maintenance needs to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment.

Primary Duties

  • Perform inspections of dormitory rooms and building areas for cleanliness, mildew, structural integrity, plumbing, and HVAC conditions.
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical work, including consumable replacement (e.g., light bulbs, ceiling tiles).
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues and pest control needs.
  • Complete and submit inspection forms; input work orders into the NEXGEN system.
  • Escort and observe third-party vendors performing maintenance tasks.
  • Provide general support to the Site Maintenance team in all assigned duties.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Report damaged items, faulty equipment, or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
  • Replace ceiling tiles and light bulbs as needed.
  • Assist with warehouse operations, groundskeeping, equipment maintenance, and carpentry tasks as required.
  • Support freight and material handling tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in maintenance or facilities support preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy (e.g., email, Excel) for documentation and NEXGEN system use preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, memos, and numerical labels.
  • Capable of effective communication in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Must be able to complete all required government training (e.g., Support Cadre, OPSEC, iWATCH).
  • Ability to pass criminal background and drug screening per network and government eligibility requirements.
