Overview

DePaul is looking for an experienced Insurance and Claims Coordinator to manage the organization's insurance procurement and claims program. This includes managing the reporting, processing and adjustment of claims relating to our All-Risk Property and Business Interruption, Builder's Risk, General and Professional Liability, Automobile, Directors, and Officers, Cyber, Crime and other policies. The ideal candidate will be someone with commercial risk and insurance experience, along with claims adjustment and/or insurance underwriting experience for business.

The Insurance and Claims Coordinator reports to the Chief Financial Officer and assists internal legal, compliance, and the project development team with their insurance needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage insurance policy renewal submissions and applications for new insurance policies.
  • Work with insurance brokers, insurers, and key additional insureds (DePaul's lenders and investors) to ensure cost effectiveness and optimum coverage.
  • Coordinate delivery of certificates of insurance for project closing, renewals, and outside vendors, lenders and investors.
  • Assist in developing insurance budgets for core insurance lines, reviewing invoices for processing and tracking variations.
  • Assist with allocation of premiums by location etc.
  • Manage the reporting, processing, and adjustment of claims, including preparation and submission of notice of claims to the insurance broker and/or carrier, tracking claims progress and resolution for all-risk property and business interruption insurance, general and professional liability, employer liability, automobile liability, Cyber, Crime, etc.
  • Coordinate and attend site visits as needed with insurance agencies for risk assessment/audit.
  • Invoicing for Insurance Escrows.
  • Auto changes-ID cards, tracking changes and registration dates.
  • Act as the overall point of contact on all insurance matters ensuring insurance compliance with government, lender, and investor requirements, as well as DePaul risk appetite.
  • Continue to develop processes and procedures for assisting the insurance program, including checklists, forms, and assistance with staff training.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Minimal travel between locations, if necessary.
  • Perform any duties necessary for the effective operation of the programs.


Qualifications

  • BS and/or BA
  • 4+ years' experience in insurance/risk management (underwriting, risk management, brokerage, or related area); some familiarity with builders' risk insurance a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and working knowledge of Microsoft office products, including word, outlook, and excel.
  • Ability to communicate and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Risk management designation, such as CRM, CPCU, or other relevant industry credentials a plus.
