The salary range for this role is:

$152,867.64 - $275,161.75

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will serve as the company leader in the development of Del Monte's safety strategy and action plan. This leader is responsible for engaging with key stakeholders and being a critical advocate for the organization's safety culture and results. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing safety and workers' compensation programs, conducting regular audits, and ensuring compliance with all safety laws and standards. Working closely with the Environmental and Sustainability Director and Site Directors, you will promote a safety culture, lead safety committees, and mentor teams for professional growth. Your role also involves evaluating safety performance, developing monitoring systems, and reporting findings to key managers. By setting realistic goals and KPIs, you will drive safety improvements and compliance. Collaboration with cross-functional leaders will be essential in hazard identification and risk mitigation. You will also oversee emergency response planning, incident investigations, and standardized training programs. Managing safety-related projects and budgets, you will ensure that safety is integrated into our operations and capital projects.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership for all Del Monte sites, specific to Health, Safety and Security matters, managing people, data, and budgets.
  • Partners with site leaders to implement, assess and improve programs and processes to minimize injuries and vehicle incidents.
  • Leads the company's Safety program by utilizing key metrics to drive performance in Safety and Security across the organization.
  • Collaborates with site and corporate personnel in the management of policies and procedures, as well as recommending changes or development of new policies or procedures.
  • Leads functional initiatives with Safety Managers from other sites and Business Units.
  • Interfaces with governmental inspectors, agencies, and regulators to facilitate visits, address deficiencies and avoid citations and fines.
  • Participates in the annual EHS conference, quarterly webcasts, regional meetings, etc.
  • Develops and manages the corporate Safety budget.

Audits

  • Ensure compliance with Safety and Security audits, inspections and risk assessments.
  • Analyzes audit results to verify adherence to corporate, business, and government standards.

Safety Programs, Procedures and Training

  • Develop company-wide programs, procedures, work instructions, and training.
  • Lead Safety and Security projects, audits, and inspections.
  • Audit regulated Safety policies annually or as needed.
  • Audit and review each site's emergency response plan.

Secure Facilities & Grounds

  • Audit and improve site security policies and practices.
  • Enforce security policies, respond to emergencies, and investigate incidents with corrective actions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, identify risks, and conduct security audits.
  • Align protocols with site leadership teams, communicate updates, and liaise with external agencies.
  • Audit incident records and prepare reports for executive team.

Local, State, and Federal Regulations

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT.
  • Guide interpretation and implementation of safety regulations.
  • Review and assess worker training on safety laws and use of safety equipment.
  • Perform facility, machinery, and equipment safety audits as part of site visits.
  • Ensure vendor and contractor safety programs comply with corporate safety policies.

Site Hazard Assessment

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies through site safety leaders.
  • Analyze incident reports and RCAs to review root causes, report findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Review safety audits and inspections to identify and correct themes.
  • Submit weekly and monthly Company Safety Reports including specified KPIs, such as TRIR, LTIR, Lag Time.

Emergency Response Plans

  • Audit site drills and ensure all necessary records are maintained and accurate.
  • Lead company-wide emergency response planning.
  • Assess each site's adherence to emergency response plans through auditing drills.

Safety Practice Continuous Improvement

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and identify best practices.
  • Analyze incidents, gather feedback, and implement changes.
  • Provide technical advice, coaching, and mentoring to employees and leadership.
  • Stay updated on safety through professional development.
  • Maintain required reports and records.
  • Build effective network within the company and with external organizations by modeling Del Monte leadership behaviors.

Worker's Compensation

  • Partner with Corporate Workers' Compensation Manager in working with Workers' Compensation insurance carriers and internal/external legal resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with a degree, 15 years' experience for non-degreed candidates.
  • Prior experience with Safety and health compliance in Food Manufacturing preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional certification preferred.
  • OSHA certifications desired - Safety and utilities preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, along with problem-solving and conflict-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook).
  • Up to 50% travel, including international.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive communicator, and team-oriented.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
