Clinical Director

What you will be doing:

The Clinical Director for the Surgical service line will be primarily responsible for managing and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to design and launch purchasing contracts for medical and surgical products and services. This role has leadership responsibility for the team creating and managing contracts resulting in the highest quality at the lowest cost for the members. The role includes evaluating relevant products and services, providing clinical input on product attributes and functionality, and developing short- and long-term contracting strategies resulting in revenue growth and member savings.

Responsibilities also include:

* Ensuring the long-term clinical viability and competitiveness of the Surgical contract portfolio. To ensure best in
class standards and supply resiliency, candidate needs professional network and market knowledge to anticipate trends,
capture emerging markets and recruit supplier partners.
* Leading the activities of the Surgical member advisory committee to encourage a peer-to-peer network and voice of customer
critical to building a market leading contract portfolio.
* Managing the contracting team to achieve on-time completion of respective sourcing work, service line growth and member
value and satisfaction.
* Performing data cleansing and cross-referencing of products for market basket financial analysis and/or creating scenarios
for capital comparisons.
* Recommending educational opportunities and joint projects for members and field to improve contract compliance and
clinical and operational success.
* Supporting members and field force in clinical questions, supply alternatives, problem solving and best practices.
* Creating and implementing strategies to create revenue growth and value to Premier members and suppliers.
* Oversight of portfolio revenue forecasting and critical contract negotiations and management of direct reports responsible for
contract management and negotiations.
* Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

IResponsibility #1- 15%

Product Research and Evaluation
* Provide clinical analysis and evaluation of assigned product categories for souricng process.
* Research medical products for new innovations, interface with suppliers to access product pipeline.
* Consolidate and present information on products and categories for internal and committee use during the sourcing cycle, including kick-off, mid-process and award.
* Create portfolio recommendations, content and present to committees for award selection.
* Conduct assigned sourcing tasks and perform administrative duties via the sourcing platform.

Responsibility #2 - 20%

Member Committee Leadership
* Act as leader and liaison to member advisory committee.
* Create and distribute committee meeting materials including agendas, meeting minutes, presentations and other deliverables.
* Participate in annual recruiting and onboarding of new committee members.
* Design and facilitate face-to-face committee meetings.

Responsibility #3 - 15%

Project Management
* Accountable to meet timelines for category completion based on the bid calendar for their clinical area.
* Develop and monitor project work plans and resolve day-to-day issues in the service line categories.
* Standardize the processes and the deliverables of their clinical product area for use by Negotiation team, the clinical committees, contract promotion team for product launch, and our field force.
Maintains solid working relationships and coordination between team members.

Responsibility #4 - 15%

Portfolio Growth
* Interface with suppliers, members, Premier field force and third party relationships to enhance and ensure viability and competitiveness of Premier portfolio.
* Enhance portfolio via addition of new categories and suppliers.
* Engage membership in migrating from off-contract to on-contract suppliers.

Responsibility #5 - 10%

Cross-Referencing and Data Cleansing
* Perform cross-referencing of products for market basket analysis and/or create scenarios for capital comparisons.
* Ensure products are categorized correctly in various databases and Premier solutions.

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 7 or more years

Education:

Bachelors (Required)

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

* Experience in Surgical Products, with Nursing also a plus
* Administrative experience including project management, ideally in a hospital or surgical setting.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Experience:

* Clinical area of expertise - clinical experience in surgical products such as Endoscopy, Anesthesia, Implantable Ports, Instruments and accessories, etc. with certification via respective professional organizations such as value analysis or AORN.
* Purchasing, negotiations and budgeting experience
* Experience in product management/ marketing implementation (applications training) and/or sales

Education:

  • Registered Nurse

Working Conditions: Remote Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $99,000 - $185,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
