Technology Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist)

Reuters is looking for an enterprising business journalist to generate exclusives and to spearhead ambitious stories revealing how the world's most powerful technology companies really work, and how they're transforming the economy.

Based in San Francisco, the correspondent will be a member of the technology companies team helping drive our global tech coverage, producing scoops and enterprise stories. The successful candidate will already have a record of breaking news and executing deep dives into corporate strategy, boardroom dynamics and investment decisions, developing sources and mining data to identify and investigate original and important stories.

The correspondent would collaborate with colleagues based around the world. She or he will often lead the reporting effort on ambitious stories and work with reporters from different teams, so flexibility and a collaborative approach are essential.

About the Role

As a Technology Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist), you will:

  • Produce exclusive stories on big tech companies
  • Deliver quick stories building off breaking news and longer-term projects.
  • Collaborate with the global team on initiative stories
  • Generate ideas for projects and series

About You

You're a fit for the role of Technology Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist) if your background includes:

  • Proven skill at reporting and writing distinctive, ambitious, agenda-setting stories
  • Ability to cultivate non-obvious sources and to gain access to exclusive documents
  • A track record of original, high-impact story ideas
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Understanding of multimedia elements to enhance stories, from graphics to pictures and video.
  • A record of breaking news
  • At least 10 years' experience reporting or editing at a major news organization

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $72,000 - $130,000.
