Carpenter

• Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment, maintaining records, documenting actions.

• Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. Measures and marks cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.

• Selects and orders lumber and other required materials.

• Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools. Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools. Assembles and fastens materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.

• Installs structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring, and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools.

• Finishes surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in buildings, using paint, hand tools, and paneling.

• Performs preventative maintenance tasks

• Responds to emergency maintenance calls.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned

• Experience - Three (3) years of finish carpentry experience
