Our Associate Sourcing Manager plays a strategic role in developing and strengthening a robust supply base to support the growth and profitability of Spectrum Brands' Global Home Care and Global Pet Care business units.

The Home & Garden business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. We are a leading supplier of consumer products nationally for the home, lawn and garden, insect and weed control markets. The Pet Care business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. Owners of dogs, cats, birds, small animals, fish and reptiles rely on our brands for exceptional value and trusted results. Our industry-leading brands include Tetra, Instant Ocean, Marineland, 8-in-1, Dingo, FURminator, Nature's Miracle, GloFish, DreamBone and SmartBones.

Job Summary

Our Associate Sourcing Manager is responsible for initiating and leading cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing the performance and quality of purchased materials and components, while minimizing total costs to meet critical financial objectives-including EBITDA and cash flow targets.

This individual will provide both commercial and technical market guidance to stakeholders across operations, marketing, sales, and R&D. A strong partnership with operations and marketing leadership is essential to anticipate and align with current and future business needs.

Key responsibilities include developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating commercial agreements, and building supplier relationships that support long-term business objectives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new sources of materials and services to meet the short, mid, and long-term needs of the business. This involves the coordination of other multi-departmental resources for evaluation of various facets of supplier capability as well as leadership in reaching consensus on ultimate choice of supplier.
  • Manage/Lead commodity categories up to $30M in spend.
  • Evaluate existing suppliers and continue to compare new alternatives to assess the state of the industry and the optimal supply base to meet business needs. Consider economies and efficiencies of scale when awarding business, to consolidate and optimize the supply base, as necessary for the reduction of costs and improvement in capability.
  • Manage NPD and EPD projects to meet Spectrum Brands objectives. Projects need to deliver the best value for materials while bringing innovative, impactful products to the organization
  • Direct the development of internal improvement initiatives that contribute to process improvement. These initiatives can and usually will involve leading a multi-functional team to develop and meet objectives.
  • Provide support to the technical, financial, marketing, and controlling groups within the company to reach their goals. This will involve sharing information learned during business discussion with the supply base as well as at the various locations within the company. The job requires excellent communication skills within and outside the company as in many cases the position will bridge functional groups & organizations.
  • Provide support for technical and financial analysis of alternative supply methodologies such as internal manufacture or complete product line outsourcing. This will require technical, financial, and project management skills as well as the ability to conduct tasks while maintaining internal and external confidentiality.
  • Successfully manage several projects and initiatives simultaneously with effective prioritization where the contribution will have the greatest impact. Delegation skills and the ability to provide direction and push for resolution and clarity are essential.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. Including both internal and external customer relationships. Manage assigned supplier relationships to ensure business objectives are met, including vendor quality and delivery performance.


Education and Experience Profile

  • BS in Business, Supply Chain, technical field or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years combined Supplier Management, Global Sourcing, Commodity Management, Program/Project Management, Finance, and/or Manufacturing Operations experience

Work Environment

  • Work conditions normal for an office environment, and up to 25% travel
  • This role is available in either our Blacksburg, VA or a Earth City, MO
  • Fixed Hybrid Schedule. (Tue-Thursday in office / Monday & Friday optional from home unless needed in office
