About the role

We are offering a 4-6 month internship opportunity in Finance at Rio Tinto Kennecott in Salt Lake City, Utah, starting Aug-Sep of 2025 This opportunity might be extended to spring or summer semester based on candidate performance and availability.

You will be able to learn about mining operation and engage with operational leaders. You will be responsible for

  • Monitoring department cost transactions
  • Conducting month-end close processes alongside finance support teams
  • Providing cost and trend analysis to stakeholders
  • Supporting Finance Business Partners as needed

What you'll bring

  • 2-3 years completed in Finance, Accounting or any other related field
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Work ethics, eagerness to learn and ready for the challenge ahead
  • Critical thinking and ability to stay on task
  • Good communication skills
  • SAP, PowerPoint, Think-cell knowledge would be a plus
  • Valid driving license

Rio Tinto Kennecott is a fully integrated mining operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, US. Kennecott is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto. For more than 120 years, Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich orebody of the Bingham Canyon Mine.
