The Director of Technical Accounting & External Reporting will support the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) in managing and overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. This role requires a deep understanding of public company financial requirements, robust technical accounting skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. The successful candidate will have a strategic mindset and capability to lead in a fast-paced, global context.

What You'll Do

Financial Reporting and Analysis



  • Own the consolidation of global financial statements and ensure precision in financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to deliver accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Manage the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual reports (10-Q and 10-K) with the SEC.
  • Responsible for various consolidated financial schedules including, but not limited to, cash flow statements, GAAP to non-GAAP bridges, and Other Comprehensive Income Statements.
  • Conduct detailed financial analyses to support executive management in strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and conduct research on complex accounting and reporting issues.
  • Provide guidance on technical accounting matters and implement new accounting standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, maintaining open and continuous communication. Oversee audit activities, address issues raised by auditors, and ensure that any audit findings are promptly resolved.


Accounting Operations



  • Manage corporate general ledger and close processes, including supporting forecast cycles.
  • Control accounting for pension, hedging, stock-based compensation activities, insurance policy, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting, leveraging outsourced vendor platform.
  • Lead various ad-hoc/annual projects, including M&A activities, intangibles, system implementations, etc.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures, and key control matrices to enhance internal controls.
  • Act as the primary resource advisor on technical accounting matters.


Process Improvement



  • Utilize financial systems and tools to streamline reporting and analysis processes.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving financial practices and outcomes.


Strategic Financial Support



  • Support the CAO and CFO in strategic financial initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, capital allocation, and other high-impact projects.
  • Prepare and present financial analyses and reports to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in investor relations activities, contributing to financial disclosures and presentations.


What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably with at least 3+ years of experience in preparing SEC reports.
  • Expert knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in financial consolidation software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
