Responsibilities The role of the medical music therapist is to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the emotional, social, and psychosomatic needs for patients receiving inpatient treatment. The music therapist provides support to meet the needs of patients and families; plans and coordinates interventions designed to support the emotional, social, and psychosomatic well-being of Norton Cancer Institute patients across the treatment settings (inpatient and outpatient). Music therapists focused within the Norton Cancer Institute have specialized knowledge in the context of complex medical illness, cancer survivorship, and end of life concerns. Music therapists employed within NCI are part of the multidisciplinary psychosocial team and are required to participate in ongoing team growth and development offerings. The medical music therapist acts as an advocate for medical music therapy interventions and provides clinical and public education resources as necessary. Qualifications Required:
