Job Overview Tool & Die Maker Apprenticeship is a two-year program combining full-time on-the-job training with required classroom instruction. Apprentices develop skills in AutoCAD, Office Suite, tool design and build capabilities and die sharpening. Key Responsibilities Step 1: Start the Apprenticeship Program Step 2: Entry Level 0-6 Months
- Basic Navigation of AutoCAD Tool Bars and Basic Commands
- Understand and use of orthographic projection and drawing interpretation.
- Demonstrate functional use of email and calendar
- Butt mill geometry, stacking and maintenance
- CNC Machine blocking
Step 3: 6-12 Months
- Ability to bring details and parts into AutoCAD using hunt command.
- Ability to create Excel workbook and use simple functions
- Complete work assigned on time with timely communication with leaders
- Proficient use of mills/lathe/grinders/heat treat ovens and other basic tool room equipment.
- Punch/form die disassembly and troubleshooting, sharpening and basic repair.
Step 4: 12-18 Months
- Use of AutoCAD to create design, details and dimensioned drawings for records
- Ability to use search engine for research, navigate to relevant sites and effectively retrieve information needed for projects
- Understand tooling design and clearances of dies.
Step 5: Year 2
- Proficiency in reviewing design issues and developing execution strategy
- Completion all required technical coursework
Required Skills and Qualifications Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to use and accurately read measuring devices (tape measures).
- Ability to use hand tools (hammer, wrench, level, etc.).
- Ability to follow blueprints.
- Ability to read and interpret Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency (data entry).

Work Environment
- The position is based in a manufacturing facility, which may involve exposure to loud noises, varying temperatures, and dust from production processes.
- Associates will frequently work near or with machinery with moving parts, following strict safety protocols.
- The facility operates on shift schedules with potential for overtime, including weekends, based on production needs.
- This environment emphasizes team collaboration and adherence to safety regulations to ensure the well-being of all associates.
