United States, New York, New York

The New York office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP seeks to hire an exceptionally talented employment litigation associate with at least 2 years of experience to join its vibrant New York and national employment law practice. The ideal candidate will have experience litigating on behalf of sophisticated private sector employers in state and federal court, at arbitration and before administrative agencies. Strong writing and public speaking skills, excellent interpersonal skills and an unwavering commitment to client service are a must, as is the ability to multitask and successfully manage a portfolio of active cases and matters. We are specifically looking for someone who is interested in a career in management-side employment litigation and who has no less than 2-3 years of training and experience as a litigation associate. The successful candidate will be someone who has been substantively involved in (i) preparing for depositions of parties and witnesses; (ii) managing discovery, including in cases involving substantial ESI productions; (iii) communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, court personnel and other third parties; and (iv) preparing dispositive motions and discovery-related motions. The successful candidate will be comfortable making strategic recommendations to senior attorneys about next steps in litigation, as well as executing on the agreed-upon litigation strategy.

The attorneys in our NY-based Employment Services practice are physically present in our New York office three or more days per week, and we have that same expectation of the candidate selected for this role. You must be admitted to practice in New York state and federal courts; bonus points if you are also admitted to practice in New Jersey and/or Connecticut.

What's in it for you? Our New York Employment Services team is small and cohesive, and we staff cases very leanly. Talented junior associates can expect to play a key role in litigation, while working collaboratively with engaged and available senior associates and partner-level attorneys. You'll work alongside colleagues who value strategic insight, proactivity, teamwork, confidence and capability. Your job will be more than merely executing direction that you have been given; instead, you'll be counted on to contribute substantively to the litigation strategy in the matters on which you are working. We work with a diverse array of interesting clients across a broad spectrum of private sector industries, we get results for our clients, and we enjoy working together. And at DWT, you'll be surrounded by colleagues who are deeply committed to your career development. You won't be lost in the shuffle, and you'll be well supported as you hone the skills and experience that will enable you to thrive long-term as an employment litigator.

To apply, please upload a cover letter addressed to Gelila Adisu, Recruiting Coordinator, Lawyer Talent Acquisition together with a resume, writing sample and law school transcript, all in PDF format. Please specify how you heard about this position. All replies confidential.
